Landscape photography is a favorite hobby of mine. When I am in the great outdoors I feel detached from the worries of everyday life and feel very relaxed as my purpose is clear. I think it gives me the wholesome feeling that I had felt while camping with my family as a child. Those are great memories as everyone just left their worries at home and enjoyed the moment. I worked in the art business for ten years and have been exposed to sculpture, paintings and many other mediums. In the end, photography is what I connect with as do soo many others. Being in nature with my camera I look for art that already exists, I must merely capture it. Capturing beautiful landscapes is something that I can share with others and bring the enjoyment of good memories. I hope you enjoy my collection of landscape photography and thank you for visiting my site.

Inspiration to be a Landscape Photographer
I spent my youth in the beautiful countryside of Ashland, Oregon. This small, Shakespearean town in Southern Oregon, while rich in arts and culture, sits in mountain lakes. Ashland was such a special and inspirational place during my childhood that it left an everlasting impression on the importance of taking in the scenery whenever possible because in turn it fills you with energy.
Like many young adults I needed to travel to experience a different lifestyle. I spent my twenties in Hawaii working in Art Galleries filled with paintings inspired by lush tropical landscape, by the hands of Walfrido, Wyland and Lassen to name a few. The Gallery experience lead me to a great career in the art world which landed me a great job with Peter Lik as Maui Gallery Director. After successfully launching the Maui gallery Peter would entrust me with more responsibility. My job became global as I overlooked the gallery operations in both Australia and the United States.
Besides the beautiful surroundings I experienced during my travels I found a great appreciation for Landscape Photography when I worked with Peter Lik. It was a wild ride to say the least. Working so closely with Peter on book layouts and choosing which shots would be produced and being such a pivotal point in his career it was all very exciting. The amount of knowledge I would gain about photography was such a blessing that I am very grateful for. I was exposed to many photographic techniques including the always interesting time lapse. I would spend those years staring at Landscape Photography. Naturally I started to look at everything with a different perspective. All of the sudden the clouds were so important and the way the light would change the appearance of our surroundings, it was as though someone slapped me in the face and said "hey wake up, look at how beautiful nature is". It's important to give credit where credit is do so I am appreciative of my time spent with Landscape Photographer Peter Lik and the many laughs and exciting goals we had achieved.
Now I am forging my own path in the photography world and am very excited to share my work and experiences with those that happen to view it. I don't see myself ever becoming famous, like the big names out there, but I don't need that. To be completely honest when someone compliments my photography I don't know how to take it but that has to do with my personality. Although I communicate with people very well in person, I am also very shy when it comes to public exposure. Art is a very personal experience for the viewer and how they connect with it. When it is not based on how much it will appreciate it becomes a personal addition to someones home. I have no idea if my work will appreciate so I will never suggest that idea, I just want the person who views it to enjoy the experience and not have to break the bank to get one. Being around a lot of hyped artists over time I realized that hype is hype; not a reality. How often to people get convinced of somethings value only to lose money over time. So my advice is to buy art because you love it, not because you think it is an investment however you might get lucky and get an artwork that appreciates.

about landscape photography
One might think back to Ansel Adams as the origin of Landscape Photography but perhaps we should delve a little bit further as images had been captured long before. Naturally Ansel would take it a step further when he used his Large Format camera and capture national parks all across the country. Ansel created wonderful prints that people would display in their homes to enjoy the scenery as if they were windows to places special to them. Landscape Photography has since evolved and many photographers have transitioned to Digital Cameras which has brought on a huge movement and spurred quick growth in the industry as many people have found it more feasible to photograph without the tedious processing of film and hours in the darkroom although now the hours are spent in front of a computer.
